Dr. Van Putten and our staff have been very fortunate to see such success as the DeLaine has brought into our lives, and we believe the most important element of being great medical practitioners and business owners it to give back to our community.<\/p>\n
To that end, in 2012, our firm developed the DeL\u2019angel charity. Our goal at the time was to partner with a local shoe outlet (Shoe Carnival) to buy new school shoes for each and every student in a local elementary school.<\/p>\n
We call our shoe drive \u201cSoles for your Soul,\u201d and it was a success beyond our imagination. In 2013 the DeL\u2019angel Charity put new school shoes on the feet of 375 students at Pine Elementary School, located in Michigan City, Indiana.<\/p>\n
The selection of Pine Valley Elementary was near and dear to the heart of DeLaine\u2019s President and Operations Director, who grew up in the area. Sadly, their elementary school was no longer standing, so Pine Valley was selected. It is a unique school, a Magnet school for the Performing and Visual Arts, teaching students from kindergarten through grade five the importance of creativity and beauty in their lives.<\/p>\n
Even in a state-of-the-art school like Pine Elementary, students and their families are in need. To be able to take one worry away from struggling parents and students is both a responsibility we take seriously and an honor we appreciate. Michigan City\u2019s News Dispatch reported on the Pine Valley shoe giveaway<\/a> and quotes the principal, Scott Braun. \u201cThis donation goes a long way to help our students and families, many of whom are facing financial challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep an eye on our blog here, and in our offices, for when the next worthy Soles for your Soul recipient school will be announced for the Fall of 2014.
