3 Tips for Making The Day of Surgery Easier

plastic surgeryWhether you are coming into DeLaine Anti-Aging Cosmetic & Eye Center for a breast augmentation, brow lift, or liposuction, it’s important to go into your surgery feeling fully prepared. During your initial consultation, our doctors and nurses will go over what you can expect both during surgery and recovery so that you can feel more relaxed. To help make sure that you feel ready and calm on the day of surgery, we have created a brief guide with three helpful tips. Read on to learn more.

  1. Schedule a Ride Home

Sometimes in the midst of something big, it’s easy to forget to prepare for small things like scheduling a ride home after surgery. Because you will have been under anesthesia, you will still feel pretty fatigued and sore, which means that you will be unable to drive. Schedule a ride with a family member or friend beforehand so that you can get home and in bed right after you are released.

  1. Have Prescriptions Filled Beforehand

Another thing we encourage our patients to do before their surgery is to have any and all prescriptions filled beforehand. Even though one of our doctors may need to call in an additional prescription after surgery, by filling the rest of your medicines beforehand, you will still have most of your medications at home and ready to take.

  1. Get Food Ready

Right after surgery, you may not feel up to eating much. In fact, anesthesia makes many patients feel a bit queasy. However, most medications should be taken with food, and you will want to get something in your stomach after surgery. Consider making a trip to the grocery store before surgery and stock up on things like soup, bread, fruits, and vegetables— that way you won’t have to worry about food when you get home and are trying to recover.

The recovery process is one of the most important aspects of any plastic surgery. By scheduling a ride home, having prescriptions filled beforehand, and getting food ready, you can make your day-of-surgery much easier.
